Boy could he play guitar!

"and Ziggy played guit-ah-ar!"

so guitars it is I rant about here....

And who are these gods? (the idolness of gods, indeed)...

Clapton (I love those '74 concerts - I'm an avid collector)?

Page (ditto the Zep '73-'75 tapes)?

Beck (ah! those Rod Stewart sessions with Ronnie Wood on bass)?

Hendrix?

No, we're talking from the hip here, animal, distorted fuzz-echo, strangled cry-babies at deafening volumes and subleties down the toilet!

This is the middle-finger from the 70s!

First it's Hats off to Marc!

And then I'll be extolling the virtues of the unassuming wonderful late very very great Mick!

When I can be arsed to pick up the weapon these are the first to come to mind - How would they do this?
Guess what! It works.....every time! Genius is an oft-abused word. But these two had it in bucket-loads....

Big shout-out to Mike Scott (the Waterboys) for having an unnecessary dig at Bolan on Mike Garson’s tweetfest for Aladdin Sane. Bolan created the guitar part for The Prettiest Star and Mick copied it note for note , even the squealing high part. The original was a slow tempo. Bowie’s version on Aladdin Sane was more upbeat and a production decision was taken for Ronson’s guitar to be prominent from the off. Are you going to compare Gabrels’ version of Moonage Daydream or Earl Slick’s? What does ‘better’ mean? Cheap.
