Into The Fire

This is a project dedicated to the artistry of Tone H. A number of songs he wrote are revisited here, with their unusual arrangements and tunings. Other tunes have been added which seem to fit the overall mood. Enjoy.

Dithane 945

Electro insanity melding with a hint of melody. It can only be the Batshit crew. Jump in or jump off!

Loutrophoros

A delightfully funereal track, this, benefitting from the gruesome tones of a mono analogue synthesiser. Drop-dead gorgeous.

Acid Brothers [2019]

A full-on psychedelic assault of your aural cavities. Grateful & dead.

In Love With A Plant

Aches & Cale

An homage to two masters (Ben O’Rian & Veg Welsh), featuring sounds of black holes and other audio space debris. Cooler than ice. Even played an FX machine like an instrument, which would have warmed the cockles of Ben’s heart.

Lingerie For Dwarves

He’s So Mono

Upon The Barriers (The Tone H Suite)

Tone clearly had grand plans for this, with its Springsteen-type lyric and his hinting at a big production number.

Into The Fire (The Tone H Suite)

Lashings of unintended irony with this one, as its prophetic lyrics say it all. This has the hallmarks of a favourite, with its odd McGeogh-flavoured verse and bouncy rock ‘n roll chorus, with a nod to Keef. I hope I’ve done it the justice it deserves. Anastasia, indeed. Truly?

Stranger Than Fixion (version 3)

Finally getting the treatment it deserved all those years ago, despite losing the main guitar riff. Even the rough session mixes stand up to scrutiny. Whatever next. Many thanks to the Hairy Goat for some buzzing bass-playing and to the SS for immaculate time-keeping on the batteria!

Winter (The Tone H Suite)

A beautiful Tone H original finally gets recorded. Its simplicity is the key to its romantic aesthetic. A string ensemble and layers of cellos enhance the sombre mood.

Secret Garden (The Tone H Suite)

It was quite a challenge to rescue this & some of the above from very sketchy notes and very odd chord shapes scribbled in his notebook. The dramatic Hammond organ almost steals the show. Pure sonic leptophilia. Somehow I may have pulled this off.

Ever Fallen In Love?

A slowed-down cover of the well-known Buzzcocks classic. There’s a moody version and then there’s the Robert Quine-on-speed version. You have been warned. Have you…..ever?
