Dollar Days
So the barrage of books & 'legacy' releases continues. But do they offer anything new or useful to say? Is it just a case of cashing in?
Have a scan of the book review section (in the post entitled rather wittily 'The Gay Science') and discover what I think about the published works.
Good to see the musical is in town, though many people appear not to have a clue about the content or related tracks. (One chap on fb even thought the song 'When I Met You' was Bowie angrily ranting about his wife!)
£ $ £ $ More box-sets! More shite books!
$ $ $ $£ £ £ £ And now Bolan's getting the treatment : re-releases of albums, but batched in pairs!
What's that all about? Tanx with Zinc Alloy? 'A Creamed Cage in August' deserves its own care and attention alone. And now Zip Gun & Futuristic Dragon. There's a wealth of material recorded during this period which does not appear on either album, which could be carefully archived and processed. There are tracks unreleased (still) and which licensing agreements will preclude from appearing till we're all dead!
Happy Birthday! Are you kidding? 75?
He’s dead. Didn’t make 70…….sadly.
Marketing gone mad. Wonder if they do Bowie bedding? Or, Ziggy kanga-pants for MEN?!!
Suddenly, Tin Machine II is released on coloured vinyl (but not remastered) and without Reeves Gabrels’ knowledge. He questions the licensing behind this. Glad I have my original vinyl in pristine nick. Bizarrely, Bowie’s estate is also releasing live material from 1997 & 1995, before the box sets for Tin Machine are due (if a sequence is to be adhered to). Looks suspiciously as if a major period is going to be skimmed or overlooked entirely. Ouvrez Le Chien (which incidentally was the Paris bootleg) contains only the Bowie part of the Texas show. The live collaborations with NIN have been omitted altogether. Crap. But you do get the bonus of completely disconnected performances from Birmingham, UK. Legacy? Nuts!
What a joke.
Who's buying this shit?
