My Mate Trev
This page is dedicated to my late mate, Trev, who departed from all scenes far too early, aged just 52!
It will be full of photos and anecdotes to raise cheer and celebrate rather than be morbid and morose. This is not a biography nor an obituary.
Trev's favourite band was probably The Stranglers, which is ironic because they were not a punk band at all. Wrong place, wrong time for these Prog-rockers. Their manager was alarmed at their misfortune.
"Go out & buy some leathers, quick!" It worked. They were accepted. Nobody spotted they didn't have a guitarist. Not even Trev. I can't stand them. Their bassist even ended up in bed at the top of the Pant, Newbridge, with Steve Strange. But that's another story.
Trev & I frequently went down to Cardiff to see the real punk legends:
The Damned
Stiff Little Fingers
The Buzzcocks
Below you can see Trev having his portrait taken with The Captain (who was unfortunately distracted by something).
Sometimes we went on trips in couples to faraway places, such as Swansea, where we’d get to stay in the same hotel as West Bromwich Albion. Similar kit?
Or, we’d go the Yard in Cardiff for a day out. He loved it.
So, what music would Trev recommend?
In no particular order………….
Another Music in a Different Kitchen - The Buzzcocks
Rattus Norvegicus - The Stranglers (even though Jet Black is older than your mother!)
Machine Gun Etiquette - The Damned
Guitar & Drum - Stiff Little Fingers
Plastic Letters - Blondie
