Lardos - Why's Bowie behind the bar?

Rhodes it is then. The early 90s and we're off on a Beach & Beauty with Thomson's.

But we don't know where we're staying. Only that we 're in Lardos for the 1st week and Lindos for the 2nd.

Lardos? Where's that? Pefkos wasn't even a resort then!!

Anyway, on the bus down we get our accommodation voucher for the Sunshine Apartments, right on the huge beach at Lardos, with the use of St.George's Club (a camping site with a restaurant & bar full of Germans) opposite. Our accommodation is amazing, a huge lounge with sofas, adjoining bedroom and kitchen-areas. Spotless and brand new. Lardos was after tourists.

So over the road we go one evening to investigate the St. George's clubhouse facilities. I saunter up to the bar for the Strongbow (yep, it had arrived by now) and stopped in my tracks. There behind the bar was a Bowie lookalike - more Bowie than Bowie - complete with elaborately-coloured waistcoat-type outfit from the 1990 Sound & Vision tour. I didn't like to tell him that Dave wouldn't be wearing waistcoats like that out, nor sticking ten pints of vaseline on his head!

Still, off to a flyer in Lardos! Strongbow & Gaymers chilled and Bowie serving. Like this place.

Better not tell the Dutch-loving Dave-clone about Tin Machine!!
