Waterpark Zakynthos - Bee in the Can!

The Waterpark in Zante is not far from any of the resorts and is always a good day out. If you arrive early you can cherry-pick the drinks in the glass-door fridges. I've had a taste for the Greek version of orange, especially the IVI (Hebe) drinks - beautiful. But in the park they come in cans. And I broke one of my own golden rules in Greece.

NEVER drink out of a can!! Because you'll forget about it and put it down. And that's when the insects strike.

I bought my EBE and sure enough put it down briefly to do something. I picked it up again and began to drink my favourite bevvie. I felt something other than EBE in my mouth so spat it all out. On the floor in front of us all was the contents of my mouth, including an enormous black bee, indigenous to the Greek isalnds. They normally buzz around quite harmlessly but are not to be trifled with. I couldn't believe it had been in my mouth. It dusted itself down and flew off unperturbed.

I stood there stunned, wondering what would have happened if I'd taken a swallow....
