Athene, owl-goddess

Everyone has seen the Acropolis of Athens. It’s worth checking out other locations too, such as the Kerameikos, Plaka, Lykavettos Hill and the museums.

Here’s my take on the Parthenon.

The view from Lykavettos is something else. It’s a massive sprawling mess, Athens.
I loved the place. All those buzzing corners near the squares, Ommonia, Syntagma, etc., where you could buy a gyro (souvlaki) for about 20 pence. There were rumours of places you should never go, certainly alone. They said you would be attacked and killed and your organs would be sold on the black market. I never took any notice and never once encountered anything unpleasant.

Here I am standing outside a children’s clothing shop.

A great city. Go!
