Tsambika Bay
An amazing beach sitting below the monastery of Tsambika. Infertile women crawl up the path to the monastery to become cured and thus beget children. Such is the patriarchal nature even of modern-day Greece.
Feminists, be warned! Consequently, many in Rhodes are named Tsambika or Tsambikos. It’s a miracle, you see.
The beach gets rammed. Don’t try to catch the service bus home. There’s a stampede and hundreds get abandoned. You must have transport or taxis booked.
It’s a fantastic beach with very soft sand and shallow waters. There are plenty of bars along the bay to service every need and toilets just above the sandy areas. It gets very hot in summer, so get shade and plenty of sun-lotion.
