Voulolimni
Tucked away along some very narrow winding tracks is the large rock pool known as Voulolimni. Protected from the ocean swell by giant rocks the sea-water pool is a quiet haven for those bold enough to explore and a world away from the hordes visiting nearby Elafonissi. It is here that Yiannis (who brought us) created his website as he sat under a shady tree with noone to disturb him. It’s his favourite secret place. I can see why.
Despite some dodgy old wire fencing lying around it is reasonably easy to enter the deep pool for swimming or snorkelling. I would recommend some rock shoes, though the Greeks have mixed feelings about their efficacy in certain conditions. I tried a mask and, though visibility was quite clear underwater, there wasn’t a huge amount to get excited about. Swimming is pleasant. Be careful on the rocks entering or exiting the pool. Not really suitable for children. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
