Chania - The Venetian Harbour

The Waterfront

This must be one of the most-photographed towns in the world. Regarded as a city in Greece, Chania is the capital of this part of Crete and has been an important strategic harbour throughout the history of Crete. Enough of me. Just look at the pictures. Since Chania airport has been opened up for tourists, the whole of the west of Crete has become accessible. No more lengthy drives from Heraklion! It’s a must-visit destination.

I like the image of the lighthouse, where the figures are silhouetted against the skyline. The sunsets are spectacular too.
