Spiliada Schooner To Skopelos
What better way to spend a day than on the ocean waves in an original schooner. Your hosts are Chryssa, who does all the organising and Captain Christos. The maximum number on board is 20, so you have plenty of room and you also get to know the other passengers well. The destinations for the day are agreed mutually when embarked. Then it’s off on an adventure. Drinks, lunch and an afternoon meal are included, as are numerous swimming stops and general silliness. The atmosphere is relaxed, especially as the wine flows. We headed for Skopelos, the location for the Mamma Mia film.
Hey! Ho!
Captain Christos with his nephew, who was helping for the season. Below, having a coffee before we set off.
Above, preparing to get going with the wind powering us along. You can see the pine-clad forests of Skopelos dropping right the waters’ edge. Time for an obligatory swim or snorkel.
The images above are of Tsougria. The rear side of the island (photo 1) is deserted except for seabirds. I swam there from the boat and back. I still don’t know why. An ontological moment. That’s where we anchored, while Captain Christos prepared our afternoon dinner, comprising spaghetti, giant prawns, cheeses, bread and salad. Of course there was more wine. Awesome! The other photos are of the front end where there are excellent facilities for tourists. (See the blog on ‘Operation Tsougria’ for more information).
Also, the front end of Tsougria, with its classy bars and restaurants. Plenty of tourists there.
Finally, back to port by 5.30 pm for a well-deserved ice-cream, as we await Max, the taxi.
